We are the importers and distributors for Austria’s main biomass boiler manufacturer KWB. We also deal directly with a number of the other manufactures or have close ties with their distributors, so we are able to source genuine parts for all the main manufacturers as well as provide manufacturer-approved servicing and training.

The easiest way for owners to achieve this is to have an annual service from a HETAS registered engineer listed on the HETAS Approved Biomass Maintenance Scheme (HABMS) as outlined in Part 3, Regulation 40 of the updated Regulations. The Approved Biomass Maintenance Scheme was developed to support the MCS Standard for Planned and Preventative Maintenance of Biomass Appliances (MCS 040), introduced in the summer of 2021. Businesses that have been actively joining the scheme recognise the demand for specialist engineers and relevant competency, which is a major move forward for the industry and those taking part in the non-domestic RHI.

Recent changes in RHI legislation means people /companies with boilers registered on the non-domestic RHI must have their boilers serviced at least annually to MCS040 standards. In order to demonstrate that a boiler has been serviced to MCS040 standards, the company undertaking it must be registered and approved by HETAS for biomass maintenance. Evidence of servicing must be kept by the RHI account holder and this can be requested by Ofgem. A document is also required from HETAS that certifies the boiler was serviced to the required standard. This certificate is something the servicing company provides after registering the service on HETAS’ online database.
