Under floor heating

Underfloor heating

More and more of our customers are looking to under floor heating (UFH) as the heating solution to make their homes and workplaces more comfortable and economical.

The benefits of under floor heating

  • Efficiency: Unlike radiators which draw cold air across the floor then heat it so that it rises by convection to the ceiling, warm water under floor heating heats the floor to a relatively low temperature and uses the entire floor area to emit heat to the room. Heat from UFH also rises by convection, but rises through the area in which we live rather than heating a room from the ceiling down!
  • Safety: Unlike radiators, UFH has no sharp edges or hot surfaces to cause injury.
  • Hygiene: Radiators are notorious for accumulating dust and being difficult to clean behind. This problem is removed with UFH.
  • Space: UFH leaves more useable floor area. radiators and pipes are unsightly and take up space. UFH is concealed beneath the floor.
  • Comfort: We are most comfortable when our feet are warm and our heads are cooler - this is exactly what under floor heating provides.
  • Economy: Although the cost of installing under floor heating is generally higher than that of a radiator based central heating system, the costs of running and maintaining the system tend to be considerably lower. This, combined with the benefits mentioned above, and potential increase in property value, make under floor heating an economic choice.

When should it be used?

Under floor heating is often implemented in new builds, extensions, apartments/flats, and buildings that require relatively low heat output such as sports halls and some commercial buildings, which have high ceilings and large floor areas.

Implementation

Installation of underfloor heating is a specialist task and should only be carried out by experienced and qualified heating engineers. Our engineers are experts in designing under floor heating systems from selecting the right boiler to siting the manifolds.

Please contact us to discuss your needs further. We can meet on your site or view your plans to provide a firm quotation on the design, supply and install of your system.
