The future of energy supply is on display at Optimum Heating for the next few months. The Energy Cabin has been developed to maximise the use of renewable sources and operates at an amazing 92% efficiency, producing savings of up to 50% on traditional heating methods.

The unit combines a high-efficiency wood pellet boiler (including storage space for the fuel) and a thermal solar panel system which together produce environmentally friendly, CO2 neutral energy. It is a plug and play unit which can be connected to existing systems, or in the case of new systems, avoids the cost of installing a boiler room altogether.

Call in to view the Energy Cabin and find out the savings it can make in your home, business or institution.

Optimum Heating are the major sponsors of the North Devon Beer Festival, which runs at the North Devon Leisure Centre 19th-22nd June this year.

To celebrate the event our Managing Director, Simon Boorer spent a day at the Barum Brewery helping to create his own brew - Optimum Ale - which will be available in time for the Festival. He describes it as a mild gold-coloured summer ale, with a prominent aroma of hops and an alcohol strength of 6%.

Come along and enjoy!

The operations of Optimum Heating will expand to a second continent next year, when Managing Director, Simon Boorer will be taking part in the Plymouth/Timbuktu Challenge. Accompanied by his wife, Sandra he will be negotiating the sand and rock-strewn roads of North Africa after driving through France and Spain in the company's Peugeot Partner van, which already has 150,000 miles on the clock. The van will be fuelled by a biofuel mix and solar generation for items such as mobile phones will ensure the trip is as green as possible. The van will then be auctioned off by the local Rotary Club to help the local population and economy. "We're a little apprehensive but excited" said Simon, who is shown with fellow Director, John Turnbull and the van in question.

The Road to Timbuktu

Queen's Theatre

27/05/2011

Optimum Heating are installing new energy efficient heaters in the Queen's Theatre in Barnstaple. The old heaters were nearing the end of their life and following a grant from the Devon County Council, work on replacing them started in August. The work is being carried out by Optimum's Jim Cullen and coincidentally the original heaters were upgraded from oil to gas in 1983 by Jim's father, Cliff who also now works for Optimum Heating.

In addition to the new boilers, extensive work on the warm air ducting will ensure a far more comfortable, energy concious environment in North Devon's leading theatre..

We made it !!!

Simon and his wife, Sandie completed the trip to Timbuktu in their Optimum Heating van.

Starting early on the morning of 7th January from Roundswell, they drove through France & Spain, calling in on Gibraltar on the way. After crossing to Morocco by ferry, they continued through Western Sahara, Mauritania and Mali, ending up three weeks later in the fabled city of Timbuktu. the faithful Optimum Heating van was then sold off for charity.

Simon recalled "I think we will always remeber the amazing people from the UK we travelled with, The Saraha Desert, and the Tuareg chief and his family we stayed with in Timbuktu as just some of the highlights of our adventure"
